About The Role

WGM Engineering, part of RSK Group, is looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role will be based in Glasgow and will benefit from Hybrid working. You will support project delivery across WGM’s growing UK water-sector portfolio. This is a business-critical opportunity to join a growing engineering business delivering essential infrastructure across the UK.

As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will provide commercial support across all business streams on financial and contractual matters arising through the management of various contracts and projects. Offering support to the business streams and senior management, you will provide advice to allow projects to be delivered on time and to budget. In this role you will provide commercial expertise within designated projects, maximising profitability and commercial performance. You’ll manage and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors, ensuring high-quality outputs, strong compliance and effective performance, while supporting recruitment and wider team resource planning alongside the Commercial Manager. You’ll take ownership of monthly cost and value forecasting, change control and commercial risk across your portfolio, while helping to shape and improve commercial processes across the business.

About The Team

Our commercial teams work closely with project delivery, site teams, clients, and supply chain partners, helping ensure work is delivered safely, effectively, and commercially. Job Responsibilities

• Provide commercial and contractual expertise to the business with a focus on risk mitigation and profit maximisation.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders including key clients contacts at senior level.
• Seek to minimize the cost of a project and enhance value for money whilst still achieving the required standards and quality.
• Prepare and manage cash flow forecasts.
• Contract and sub-contract management and administration, including certification of payment applications from subcontractors.
• Monitor all costs relating to a project from tender to final account stage.
• Management of Change Control including Early Warnings and Compensation Events.

Minimum Requirements

• Degree qualified or professional qualification accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in managing, mentoring and developing teams, with a strong focus on supporting individual performance and professional growth.
• Highly Competent in MS Excel and Word.
• Ability to interpret and understand contract documents, scopes of works and contract drawings.
• Skilled in financial cost control, value recovery and change management.
• Experience within the Construction and/or Engineering industry.
• Detailed working knowledge of NEC4 Conditions of Contract.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Experience supporting dispute avoidance.
• Ability to work to strict deadlines.

Qualifications And Desirable Experience

The following would be helpful, but is not essential:

• Experience within the UK water sector, including work with Scottish Water, United Utilities, Southern Water or other regulated utility environments.

Salary And Benefits
