WGM Engineering Ltd, part of RSK Group, is looking for a Lead Mechanical Designer to join our Technical & Design team on a permanent contract based in Glasgow with hybrid working arrangements.

WGM Engineering delivers integrated Mechanical, Electrical and Civil Engineering services. Since 1986, we have helped shape major infrastructure projects across the UK with a focus on sustainability.
About the Role
The Lead Designer will manage the production of discipline‑specific engineering design deliverables across a range of multi‑disciplinary projects within the Water Industry. Responsibilities include concept design, design development, project management to detailed design, commissioning and completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a team of Designers to achieve project design deliverables.
- Ensure all design work complies with WGM QA Policies, Procedures and Specifications.
- Attend sites to assist with surveys and data gathering.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external key contacts to maximise efficiencies.
- Lead and perform as a key member of a highly efficient, multi‑disciplinary design team.
Person Specification
- Strong technical knowledge of Mechanical design.
- Commercial awareness of the discipline.
- High attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- Competent IT and CAD knowledge.
- Excellent analytical and numeracy skills.
- Creative problem‑solving mindset.
- Effective communication skills, able to liaise with colleagues, clients, contractors and other project partners.

- Up to £60,000 per annum Full Time Equivalent.
