We have a current requirement for a civil design engineer to join our design function based in Glasgow on a permanent basis. The role involves managing the production of discipline-specific engineering design deliverables for various multi-disciplinary projects, primarily on Water and Wastewater sites. Responsibilities include the design and assessment of civil structures such as concrete plinths, base-slabs, retaining walls, tanks, channels, and flumes, ensuring they resist static and dynamic forces, and considering construction aspects like ground conditions, buildability, and demolition. Main Duties and Responsibilities Support project management in design and option development to transform client concepts into feasible solutions. Engage with clients to clarify requirements. Conduct site surveys to gather data and understand project needs. Prepare civil/structural design calculations. Identify potential issues through surveys and advise accordingly. Manage projects independently from design to completion. Supervise CAD/BIM team production of design drawings. Communicate effectively and maintain a personable approach. Ensure technical quality of project deliverables. Follow CDM Regulations 2015, including risk assessments. Support site teams during construction with advice and problem-solving. Candidates should have 2-3 years of design experience within civil engineering or construction, a good understanding of structural theory, problem-solving skills, and technical design expertise aligned with British and/or Eurocodes.
