Role Summary

Designated Safeguarding Lead for Westmorland School, part of the Witherslack Group. The role reports directly to the Head Teacher and is responsible for safeguarding within the school, liaising daily with statutory and non‑statutory agencies, parents/carers, and staff, and providing support, advice and expertise related to wellbeing, child protection and safeguarding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the leadership team and other Witherslack Group staff to promote safeguarding practices.
  • Act as the primary point of contact on safeguarding matters for staff, pupils and parents.
  • Coordinate with statutory and non‑statutory agencies on child protection issues.
  • Offer advice and expertise to staff on safeguarding and wellbeing matters.
  • Maintain safeguarding policies, procedures and records.

Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a Designated Safeguarding Lead role.
  • Comprehensive portfolio of CPD related to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and problem‑resolution skills.
  • Genuinely empathetic approach.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Subject to an enhanced DBS check (cost covered).
