Role Overview

As a Pastoral Support Assistant at Witherslack Group, your primary focus is to meet the emotional and behavioural needs of young people with complex challenges, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

You will support children and youth aged 5‑19 at Luxborough Court School, helping them thrive in a high‑support environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personalised pastoral care and emotional support to each pupil.
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Conduct assessments and maintain accurate records of progress and needs.
  • Facilitate therapeutic interventions and daily routines to promote well‑being.
  • Collaborate with staff, external agencies, and services to ensure seamless care and safeguarding.
  • Support pupils in developing social, emotional, and behavioural skills.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience working with ASC, ADHD or SEMH pupils and families.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, child protection policies and relevant legislation.
  • Experience with multi‑agency work and support networks.
  • NVQ Level3 in Care or Level2 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred).
  • Strong listening, motivational and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent organisational and flexibility.
