The Role
Our client is looking to appoint an experienced Toolmaker to support the maintenance, optimisation, and ongoing performance of fine blanking progression tools used in the manufacture of precision components for prick‑allergy needle assemblies. This is a highly skilled role requiring experience working with extremely thin stainless steel material (down to 0.006" thickness) and the ability to consistently achieve exceptionally tight tolerances.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, and optimise small fine blanking progression tools to ensure consistent production accuracy
- Carry out regrinding, rebuilding, and refurbishment of tooling to a high standard
- Diagnose tooling issues and implement effective corrective actions
- Operate a full range of toolroom machinery including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and surface finishing equipment
- Work accurately from detailed engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Maintain strict dimensional tolerances and quality standards at all times
- Provide tooling support and technical input to production teams
- Work in line with all quality, safety, and regulatory requirements
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Toolmaker, ideally within fine blanking, precision stamping, or a similar environment
- Strong background in regrinding, rebuilding, and maintaining complex tooling
- Confident operating standard toolroom machinery
- Demonstrated ability to work to very tight tolerances
- Excellent attention to detail with a methodical, problem‑solving mindset
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and documentation
- Committed to quality, safety, and process compliance
