Job Type: Permanent

Location: Oldham

Work Hours & Shift: 37.5 hours per week. Rotating 3‑shift pattern:

  • 6am – 2pm Monday – Friday
  • 2pm – 10pm Monday – Friday
  • 10pm – 6am Monday – Friday

Overtime: Overtime at x1.5; x2 on Sundays.

Salary & Bonus: From £17.16 per hour + 35% shift allowance. Bonus: £1.50 per hour for running two machines.

About the Company: Based in Oldham, our client produces a wide range of complex, large‑scale, precision‑machined components and assemblies for sectors including oil & gas, subsea, nuclear, aerospace, defence, and rail. They specialise in both bespoke one‑off parts and batch production, with a strong reputation for quality and technical expertise.

About the Role: We are looking for a skilled CNC Turner Programmer with extensive experience working on large components using Fanuc controls. You will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC turning machines, producing precision parts to tight tolerances.

Duties:

  • Programming, setting, and operating CNC lathes with Fanuc controls.
  • Working on large components using horizontal and vertical turning centres.
  • Carrying out dimensional and visual checks using appropriate measuring equipment.
  • Using CAD/CAM systems (available for the right candidate).
  • Maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
  • Meeting production deadlines while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in CNC turning.
  • Strong programming skills using Fanuc controls.
  • Experience machining large, heavy components.
  • Fully competent in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Able to work to tight tolerances.
  • Strong quality focus and attention to detail.
  • Flexible approach to working hours (overtime may be required).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently.
