Working Pattern: Initially Monday to Thursday 6:00am – 3:30pm (9 hours per day) during 3-month probation. Permanent late shift after probation (details TBC). Shift allowance will apply (rate to be confirmed).
About the Role:
- Manufacture large machine components to customer specifications.
- Work from detailed drawings and offline programming documents.
- Play a key role in maintaining production quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
Machines to be Set & Operated:
- Kafo RV-5140 Double Column Gantry CNC Milling Machine – Fanuc control.
- Butler Elgamill Universal CNC Milling Machine – Heidenhain control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine components ranging from 1 metre to 5 metres in length.
- Follow offline programming documents including job set-up sheets, tooling sheets, and machining methods.
- Set and operate multi-axis CNC milling machines.
- Change tools/inserts and adjust offsets to maintain tolerances.
- Download CNC programs and save proven files.
- Operate manual machining centres where required.
- Measure and inspect components to ensure accuracy to drawings.
- Report any issues or non-conformances to inspector or manager.
- Identify machine maintenance and repair needs.
- Carry out routine machine maintenance.
- Produce high-quality work while minimising waste.
- Maintain a safe and tidy working environment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience operating multi-axis CNC milling machines.
- Experience with gantry-style milling machines (ideally universal head, Fanuc control).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience setting and clamping large parts up to 5 tonnes.
- Experience using overhead cranes (training certification preferred).
- Forklift truck training preferred.
- High attention to detail and ability to meet production targets and deadlines.
