Reporting to the Legal Director, Global Procurement, this permanent hybrid role provides legal support to WEX business owners and procurement teams on a wide range of vendor engagements, third‑party transactions, and related matters.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of standard vendor and third‑party agreements, including technology licences, consulting, professional services, telecom, hardware, marketing, real‑estate and other services agreements, and related documentation.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with applicable laws, regulations and internal procurement policies.
- Identify, manage and escalate issues and risks arising during vendor and third‑party negotiations and provide actionable recommendations.
- Provide general in‑house support for legal matters concerning the WEX Procurement Team’s initiatives, activities and operations.
- Actively assist in the development and maintenance of standard templates and playbooks for vendor agreements and contracting standards.
- Conduct and assist in training sessions for the Procurement Team and other stakeholders.
- Present issues in a clear and concise manner, delivering succinct, results‑oriented legal advice.
- Collaborate with the Procurement Team to develop, maintain and operationalise vendor assessment, onboarding, risk and performance monitoring, policy compliance and off‑boarding processes.
- Assist in the resolution of specific contractual queries and pre‑litigation disputes related to vendor and third‑party contracts.
- Maintain a current understanding of relevant laws, regulations, industry standards and policy trends, including data privacy, IP, trade secrets, artificial intelligence and data security.
- Contribute to the WEX Legal Team culture and assist with projects in areas such as information security, compliance, contract management, mergers and acquisitions and other legal and regulatory matters.
- Design, modify and implement company policies and processes to ensure legal compliance with internal goals and applicable laws.
- Handle other day‑to‑day legal issues arising in our growing, complex business.
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer or practicing solicitor with a current practising certificate.
- Post‑qualification experience (PQE) in a well‑regarded firm and/or corporation.
- Experience negotiating technology licence agreements (software‑as‑a‑service, software, cloud and related ancillary documents, including SLAs, security exhibits and privacy addenda).
- Experience negotiating consulting, professional services, telecom, hardware and real‑estate agreements.
- Ability to project‑manage and gather business requirements across multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and oral / written skills.
- Exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask, prioritise and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Strong reviewing and drafting skills with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness.
- Proficiency with third‑party tools (online resources, AI and other subscription resources).
- Ability to work independently while remaining team‑oriented and collaborative.
