Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to raising standards of attainment by preparing and teaching stimulating and energetic lessons of a high standard in accordance with pupils’ needs.
  • Identify clear learning objectives and outcomes, building on prior attainment, with appropriate challenge.
  • Take responsibility for, and promote, the safety, welfare and wellbeing of all pupils in your care.
  • Be aware of and comply with child‑protection policies and report all concerns to an appropriate person.
  • In line with school policy, mark, monitor, and assess pupils’ work and set targets for progress.
  • Assess and record pupils’ progress, monitor strengths and weaknesses, inform planning and recognise achievement levels.

Ideal Candidate

  • Teaching qualification together with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum in Key Stage 2.
  • Able to use a range of teaching and learning strategies.
  • Understanding of how assessment for learning can improve pupil performance.
  • Confident and competent user of ICT.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Creativity in problem solving and willingness to try new approaches.
  • Positive attitude towards professional development and personal learning.
  • Experience working with children who have Special Educational Needs (desirable).
