Why us?
Westwood Veterinary Practice is both well-established and displays a visible presence with branches in the rural village setting of Boston Spa and bustling town of Garforth. Both practices offer different capabilities, with most diagnostics performed at the Boston Spa branch and Dentistry at the Garforth surgery. As a practice, we strive to offer high-quality care to all our patients, with a keen focus on diagnostic work-ups and offering proactive preventative health care. We are a warm and friendly team with an excellent client base. Westwood is a busy, first opinion small animal practice. We also work closely with Cats Protection Leeds, with set operating days dedicated to their charity work. Both practices have a designated operating theatre and prep area, with separate cat and dog wards at the Garforth surgery. The Garforth surgery has digital dental x-ray and excellent dental capabilities. We have a variety of equipment, including digital x-ray, ultrasonography at both practices, bronchoscopy, laparoscopy, in-house laboratory and laser. We also have capabilities for in-house orthopaedics, including MMP, and echocardiograms/ECG.
About the team:
We are a stable team of 9 vets, two of which hold surgery certificates and two others working toward their CertAVP. We have 10 RVNs with a variety of further qualifications including nutrition and surgery, and 2 student nurses. Many of the staff have been with the practice since qualifying; our practice manager and head nurse have both worked for the practice for over 40 years! Our Clinical Director was a new graduate at the practice, and we still have our 2016 and 2020 New graduate vets working for us.
Location:
Boston Spa is a picturesque village on the border of North Yorkshire with a high street packed with delis and coffee shops and a variety of lovely walks for a lunchtime stroll. The practice is well established in the community, and we like to get involved in local initiatives such as the scarecrow festival and charity Christmas tree events. Garforth offers a more suburban feel with excellent transport links to the nearby Leeds and York by bus and train. The practice is situated in a busy retail park with excellent links to both the A1/M1 motorways. There is ample parking at both sites.
