Principal P&C Engineer with extensive experience delivering high-voltage projects. Proven track record across FEED and detailed design for AIS/GIS substations, HVDC interconnectors, and energy storage systems. Strong technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, and commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities- Lead FEED and detailed design for Protection & Control systems on transmission and renewable projects
- Develop and review protection schemes, interface designs, and control philosophies
- Ensure quality and timely delivery of design packages and technical submissions
- Conduct site visits and non-intrusive surveys to support design and delivery
- Review protection settings, relay coordination, and scheme logic
- Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Support tendering and preparation of technical proposals
- Identify and manage technical risks in line with CDM and safety standards
- Mentor junior engineers and support team development
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng/MEng)
- Chartered Engineer (IET) or working towards chartership
- National Grid Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE)
- TP141 Authorisation (P&C) – desirable
- 10+ years in P&C design for high-voltage systems (132kV–400kV)
- Strong knowledge of UK transmission standards and design processes
- Experience across full project lifecycle (feasibility to detailed design)
- Expertise in substations, HVDC, BESS, and renewable generation (e.g. wind)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
