Job Description

Westwood Construction are looking for Quality Inspectors with Steel Manufacturing experience in Milton Keynes

When: Immediate start available

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail and a strong engineering background to play a key role in ensuring products meet the highest quality standards before reaching customers.

Working closely with production and quality teams, you'll be responsible for carrying out inspections, reviewing engineering documentation, identifying non-conformances and helping to drive continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out visual and dimensional inspections on finished products and incoming materials.
  • Perform quality assessments using inspection equipment, including CMM.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Identify and report non-conforming materials and products.
  • Produce detailed inspection reports and quality documentation.
  • Support investigations into quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Work with production teams to improve manufacturing quality and reduce defects.
  • Assist with KPI reporting and quality performance monitoring.
  • Support the development and maintenance of quality procedures and systems.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a Quality Inspector or Quality Control role within engineering or manufacturing.
  • Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
  • Experience with Aberlink software is desirable; PC-DMIS experience is also advantageous.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T.
  • Knowledge of welding standards and inspection practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Competent using Microsoft Office and MRP/SAP systems (preferred).
  • Able to work independently and manage workload effectively.

Desirable

  • Engineering or manufacturing background.
  • Forklift licence (or willingness to be trained).
  • Experience contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting colleagues on quality processes.
