We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrician to provide temporary cover at HMP Cardiff. This is an ongoing temporary assignment supporting the site while the client recruits for a permanent member of staff. The successful candidate will join the facilities maintenance team, helping to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the establishment.
Working Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday: 8am to 5pm, 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis.
Pay Rate: Competitive hourly rate, dependent on experience.
The Role:
- Carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance.
- Fault finding and repairs across the site.
- Electrical testing and inspections in line with BS7671 regulations.
- Completing minor installation works and replacements.
- Ensuring electrical systems remain safe, compliant and fully operational.
- Following health and safety procedures, RAMS and safe systems of work.
- Supporting the wider facilities team and escorting contractors where required.
Requirements:
- Level 2 qualification in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- 18th Edition qualification preferred (17th Edition considered).
- Previous experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding.
- Knowledge of Electricity at Work Regulations.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and at height when required.
- Basic IT skills.
Desirable:
- Experience with fire alarm systems.
- CCTV maintenance knowledge.
