Senior Electrical Studies Engineer

Overview Senior Electrical Studies Engineer Westwood Professional Services, Inc. Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Studies Engineer to play a pivotal role in designing and optimizing utility-scale renewable energy plants, including wind, solar, and battery storage facilities. The engineer will perform comprehensive electrical system studies, ensure compliance with interconnection requirements, facilitate seamless integration of renewable assets into the power grid, and mentor junior engineers. Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with lead design engineers and clients to develop electrical models and support project design processes. Create detailed system models representing the plant and conduct various studies such as short circuit, load flow, harmonics, insulation coordination, power loss, arc flash, grounding, lightning risk, and transient studies. Generate written reports to communicate study results within project timelines. Coordinate with internal teams, external clients, owners, and engineers to ensure project success. Mentor and train junior studies engineers. Review work of peers to ensure quality before client submission. Required Experience Approximately 5–10 years in electrical plant design and system studies. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with a focus on power systems. Experience with utility-scale renewable energy systems, including wind, solar, and battery storage, with emphasis on system design and grid integration. Proficiency in electrical system studies such as short circuit, load flow, and reactive power. Knowledge of modeling software like DIgSILENT PowerFactory (preferred), ETAP, PSCAD, SKM Power*Tools, PSSE, PSLF, or similar. Preferred Experience Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Proficiency with DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, WinIGS, and/or CDEGS. Knowledge of Python and/or VBA. #J-18808-Ljbffr
