Location: Manchester Salary: £40,000 Working Pattern: Flexible hours with hybrid working (1 day working from home)
The Opportunity
We’re working with a growing hospitality events business in Manchester that is looking to appoint a hands-on, commercially minded Management Accountant to support its continued growth.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys working with numbers, understands the importance of strong financial controls, and wants to play an active role in the success of a growing business.
This isn’t a role for someone who simply wants to produce reports and tick boxes. We’re looking for someone who wants to understand the business behind the numbers, take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, and provide meaningful insight to help drive better commercial decisions.
The Role
You’ll take responsibility for key financial processes, management reporting and cash flow management, ensuring the business has the financial information and controls it needs to operate effectively and grow sustainably.
Working closely with the wider business, you’ll need to be comfortable working independently, getting involved in transactional finance where required, and challenging figures, processes or decisions when something doesn’t look right.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and supporting analysis.
- Manage cash flow forecasting, monitoring and reporting, helping the business maintain strong financial control.
- Oversee day-to-day transactional finance processes, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
- Monitor income, expenditure, margins and business performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
- Maintain robust financial controls, reconciliations and reporting procedures.
- Work with operational teams to understand financial performance and improve commercial awareness.
- Investigate discrepancies, challenge assumptions and raise issues when necessary.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems and efficiencies.
- Provide clear, relevant financial information to support business decisions.
About You
We’re looking for someone who combines strong financial skills with a practical, commercially focused approach. You’ll be happy rolling up your sleeves and getting involved in the detail, while also understanding the bigger picture.
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience in a Management Accountant or similar hands-on finance role.
- Strong cash flow management and forecasting experience.
- A solid understanding of transactional finance processes and financial controls.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with a genuine interest in understanding what the numbers tell you.
- The confidence to work independently, manage your own workload and take ownership of deadlines.
- The ability to question, challenge and investigate when something doesn’t look right.
- A proactive mindset, with the confidence to suggest improvements and make a positive impact.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with non-finance colleagues.
Experience within hospitality, events, catering or another fast-paced, operationally focused business would also be advantageous.
What’s on Offer?
- Flexible working hours to support a healthy work-life balance.
- Hybrid working, with the option to work from home one day per week.
- The opportunity to join a growing hospitality events business.
- A varied, hands-on role with genuine responsibility and visibility across the business.
- The chance to influence financial processes and contribute directly to the company’s continued success.
Interested?
If you’re a commercially minded Management Accountant who enjoys getting into the detail, takes ownership of their work and wants to understand the business beyond the balance sheet, we’d love to hear from you.
