Westwood is a well-established and family-owned mental health residential care home located in Mickleover, Derby, recently under new management. We pride ourselves on providing a safe and supportive environment for our Residents who require 24-hour care and are actively seeking an experienced Cook to join the team to provide part-time support on 2-3 morning shifts a week. Our kitchen shifts start at 7:45am till 16:00pm.
What are we looking for?
- A pro-active experienced individual who shares our passion for providing high levels of care.
- A relevant catering qualification would be preferred, but not essential.
- A positive can-do attitude with the ability to provide a balanced and nutritious diet for 23 residents, designing and implementing seasonal menus within budgetary constraints.
- Actively participate in monthly meetings with the Registered Manager to ensure efficient running of the Kitchen.
- Strong communication skills with an eye for detail – specifically for conducting weekly stock audits and food orders, ensuring foodstuffs are ordered when required and low wastage levels are maintained.
- An enthusiastic team player who will support the physical, emotional well-being and social needs of our residents while ensuring dignity and individuality is considered in all aspects of care.
- This may require adapting food choices to ensure cultural and religious needs are considered as well as meeting all modified diets.
- Ensure high standards of hygiene are maintained as well as compliance with all in-house policies and procedures with particular focus on Health and Safety guidelines and Environmental Health.
