OVERALL OBJECTIVES:
- Provide physical and emotional support and care for the residents of the home, maintaining high standards of care and supervision of daily routines.
- Assist in providing a stable and caring environment that underpins the residents' emotional and psychological well-being.
- Support residents in continuing the expression of their culture, faith, and values.
- Develop a good working relationship with managers and be involved in staff training and development.
- Take charge of a shift in the absence of the Home Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Resident Care and Supervision: Provide, oversee, supervise, and monitor the daily routine to ensure consistent high standards of resident care. Be in charge as required, organizing the workload and supervising the staff. Develop a good working relationship with the Enhanced Senior and the management team. Communicate effectively between Managers and care staff, both written and verbally. Contribute to and adhere to the development of individual care plans concerning hygiene, bathing, continence management, mobility, feeding, dressing, and general care. Assist with the administration of medication in accordance with medication procedures. Promote a friendly, homely atmosphere at all times. Assist residents with their activities of daily living. Assist with domestic/housekeeping tasks, maintain general tidiness, and promote a homely atmosphere. Greet visitors, ensure general security policies are adhered to, answer the telephone, and screen calls as required.
- Staff Supervision and Development: Work in conjunction with the Deputy Manager and be involved with the induction of new care and domestic staff, keeping any required records. Supervise staff on shift, ensuring high standards of care, adherence to procedures, and safety while at work. Ensure the Home Manager and Deputy Manager are informed of any problems or developments regarding staff, residents, or support services in a timely manner.
- Communication and Teamwork: Communicate effectively with managers, care staff, residents, and visitors. Maintain confidentiality and discretion in communicating personal matters to senior and other members of staff and residents. Uphold the key principles of residents' rights, citizenship, independence, choice, privacy, fulfillment, and dignity. Respect residents' beliefs and values, arranging visits to places of worship and clergy visits as needed. Assist residents with reading and general intellectual stimulation, and support them in pursuing outside interests and activities. Participate in team meetings and individual meetings with the Line Manager as required.
- Health and Safety: Ensure conformance with the company's health and safety at work policy, by self and staff. Accompany healthcare professionals to resident rooms, provide a full report to the person in charge, and complete relevant documents if required. Assist with the care of the dying.
- Other Duties: Be accountable for undertaking specific responsibilities as directed by the Home Manager. Undertake appropriate training as determined by the Home Manager. Carry out other duties as may be reasonably required by the Deputy Manager/Enhanced Senior.
