Westrop Medical Practice have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join the team. You should have experience of working in General Practice/Primary Care and be prepared to work as part of a varied multi-disciplinary team. The healthcare assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.
Main duties of the job include:
- Chaperone of patients.
- Urinalysis and preparation of specimens for investigation by the pathology laboratory.
- Measuring and recording physiological measurements such as blood pressure, pulse rate and rhythm, temperature, height & weight, BMI, venipuncture, ECG, administer vaccinations.
- Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions.
- Assist in raising awareness of health and well-being.
- Give accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within own competence.
- Assist in the care of patients with chronic diseases.
The Health Care Assistant (HCA) works under indirect supervision of the nurse team leader and undertakes tasks and duties delegated by the nurse team leader or a suitably qualified regulated professional. The HCA will work collaboratively with the clinical team to meet the needs of patients of the health centre(s), following policy and procedures.

As a Health Care Assistant at Westrop, you will support the delivery of safe, high-quality care within a busy and well-organised primary care setting. You will:
- Work alongside GPs, specialist nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Undertake delegated clinical tasks within agreed competencies
- Contribute to chronic disease management and preventative care
- Support infection control and patient safety standards
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records
Clinical Responsibilities include:
- Blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight and BMI
- Venepuncture
- ECG recording
- Urinalysis and specimen preparation
- Vaccinations including influenza, pneumococcal, shingles and B12
- Chaperoning
- Supporting patients during nebulisation therapy
- Assisting in chronic disease monitoring
