Role: Sales Executive

Location: Remote with frequent travel

Type: Full-Time

Reports to: Sales Director

Key dimensions of the role:

  • To find and develop sales from new customers in the UK in the market sectors we choose to serve. Activities with customers outside the assigned region are possible where the account responsibility involves multinational customers.

This role is responsible for:

  • Sales Strategy: Develop & implement strategic sales plans to achieve company targets in designated markets.
  • Acquire & Onboard New Business: Identify and convert new opportunities. Manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting to post-sale onboarding and integration.
  • Develop Targeted Proposals: Create commercially robust proposals that align with customer needs while optimizing profitability for Smurfit Westrock.
  • Lead Seamless Onboarding: Coordinate cross-functional teams (design, production, logistics, quality, engineering) to deliver a professional and frictionless customer onboarding experience.
  • Build Multi-Level Customer Relationships: Engage with key stakeholders across Procurement, Technical, Marketing, Operations, and Quality to position Smurfit Westrock as a long-term strategic partner.
  • Negotiate with Confidence: Handle commercial discussions and contract negotiations with a focus on long-term value creation.
  • Own Your Pipeline: Preparing and maintaining internal sales systems, notably forecasting and core key account planning tools, to a high level.

Skills/attributes/minimum qualifications:

  • Experience in equivalent sales role desirable.
  • Packaging environmental experience desirable.
  • With professional stature and ability to gain customer credibility.
  • Self-motivated, persistent, and entrepreneurial.
  • Ability and desire to network.
  • Ability and desire to listen to customers and identify customers’ needs.
  • Ability to work independently – without needing supporting services/personnel but understanding the need to communicate internally.
  • Multi-skilled – commercially astute and able to communicate in a professional manner.
  • Computer literate with the ability to compose professional presentations and use standard office automation technologies.
  • Ability to work with technical matters to offer a complete packaging system proposal.
