How you will impact WestRock Business Excellence
- Responsible for providing proactive, effective and efficient HR advice, coaching and guidance to senior management, line managers and staff within a unionised environment.
- Work closely with senior managers to develop and drive people plans aimed at promoting an engaged and highly productive workforce.
- Achieving all objectives both strategic and operational.
- Leading/driving talent mapping, development, succession planning projects to meet business/HR strategy.
- Lead and deliver HR projects and change initiatives within the East Kilbride site.
- Be the HR lead to the site employee recognition programs.
- Support the talent acquisition process, providing HR support to the recruitment process.
- Manage a range of casework (Absence, disciplinary and grievance) and ensuring that cases are managed effectively to deliver optimum outcomes whilst keeping abreast of any associated risks.
- Work collaboratively with the wider HR team to support delivery of global projects and initiatives.
- Guide leaders through performance cycles, calibration, and recognition programs; ensure pay and bonus reviews align with reward frameworks and market practice.
- Analyse/interpreting monthly HR KPI’s, utilising data to influence decisions.
- Shaping learning plans (frontline to leaders): onboarding, technical capability, leadership development, and continuous improvement.
- Lead by example to drive Smurfit WestRock’s culture and values; lead engagement action plans and feedback loops across site and functions.
- Partner with DEI initiatives to ensure inclusive practices, accessibility, and equitable opportunities in all people processes.
- Maintain policy governance, consult on changes to reflect legal, operational, and cultural requirements.
What you need to succeed:
- Proven HR generalist experience within a fast-paced, operational environment (experience within unionised environments beneficial).
- CIPD level 5 qualified or working towards.
- Good knowledge of current UK employment legislation.
- Excellent communication, influencing and coaching skills.
- Demonstrable communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to challenge and debate issues in a constructive manner.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Able to demonstrate continuous improvement in a previous role.
- Ability to look at situations from several points of view and demonstrate empathy.
