Our talented team at Smurfit Westrock East Kilbride continues to grow, and we are currently looking to recruit experienced Machine Operators to support our expanding operation.

Shift Pattern:
  • Typically 3 x 12‑hour shifts per week
  • Shifts may increase or decrease depending on operational requirements
  • The roster includes night shift and weekend working
Job Purpose:

Set up, operate, and maintain rigid box machines and all other rigid box manufacturing related machinery. Abide by all Health and Safety or Standard Operating Procedures set for the area of work, including the reporting of any faults or incidents. Complete work to Company agreed standards, in a timely manner, whilst minimising any waste. Request, receive and use the appropriate tooling required to run each job. Perform routine and preventive maintenance to minimise downtime. Carry out daily cleaning and routine maintenance of machines and work area. Carry out machine changeovers and adjustments as required for different product runs. Monitor production quality, identify non‑conformities, and take corrective action. Participate in continuous improvement activities and contribute ideas for process enhancement. Maintain accurate machine and production records when using VWT and SFDC systems. Maintain safe working practices on machinery. Conformance to safe housekeeping standards, ensuring the work environment is clean and safe. Communicate effectively with maintenance, quality, and supervisory staff regarding equipment performance.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Ensuring machinery is operated within Health and Safety guidelines and departmental procedures.
  • Recording production information in accordance with company requirements.
  • Checking the job specification and identifying the materials required for the job.
  • Ensuring that output meets the job specifications and company quality standards.
  • Working as an effective team member to meet production requirements.
  • Ensuring vigilance to any breakdowns and malfunctions, reporting them immediately to the correct person.
  • Following company guidelines for the correct removal of waste.
  • Ensuring that correct PPE is worn at all times.
  • Maximising efficiencies to achieve annual KPI targets.
  • Continuous product quality control during machine run to ensure that all products and procedures meet the customer prescribed standards.
  • Contribute to improvements in key business fundamentals such as Safety / Quality / Cost / Delivery.
  • Flexibility to suit business requirements.
