Westray Recruitment Group are seeking a Manual Turner to join our client based in Cramlington. The right candidate will be joining a global company with a proud history. THE BUSINESS

THE ROLE

  • Operating a conventional turning machine (lathe) and conventional borer (webster and bennet) to produce high precision parts to customer specifications
  • Assisting with final fitting of the components
  • Correctly positioning the component into the machine, with the assistance of lifting equipment if necessary
  • Identifying the operations which will machine (cut) the component to the required size
  • Carrying out the machining in accordance to the components route card and technical drawing
  • To check your own quality as you work, measuring first-offs before proceeding with any additional machining with hand measuring equipment such as venires and micrometers
  • Responsible for the housekeeping within your own work area
  • To follow instructions as per company procedure, practises and policies
  • To ensure all work/tasks/procedures/documentation meet the requirements of the company’s Quality Systems & procedures
  • To ensure all work meets the requirements of Health & Safety systems & procedures

THE PERSON

  • Educated to Engineering Apprentice level or equivalent
  • Ideally with a minimum of 3 years post experience working in the same/similar environment
  • An ability to read, interpret and communicate technical drawings
  • Manual Handling Training and overhead crane experience
  • Good written and oral skills
  • Experienced within the metal cutting or manufacturing industry
  • Must have proven team-working skills
  • Planning and organisational skills are also required to ensure departmental and business objectives and deadlines are met whilst ensuring the integrity of the Company
  • Excellent written and verbal skills are required to convey issues to your management and employees alike
  • PC literate: Expert knowledge of spreadsheets and reporting computer systems is essential. All round appreciation and understanding of Information Technology including hardware, software and networking arrangements
