Westray Recruitment Group is seeking to recruit a Manual Machinist for our client based in Consett.

WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?

  • Permanent role
  • Durham location
  • £20 per hour (£38,480 per annum) – includes shift allowance
  • 37 hours per week
  • 2 shift rotation
  • Day Shift - Mon to Thu 06:00-14:00, Fri 06:00-13:30
  • Back Shift - Mon to Thu 13:45-23:45, Fri 13:45-22:45 (During probation - Mon to Thu 07:30-16:00, Fri 07:00-12:30)
  • Overtime Rate Applicable

Based in Consett, our client is a well-established and forward-thinking engineering business specialising in the reverse engineering and refurbishment of rotating equipment. Supporting a wide range of industrial sectors, they provide expert servicing, repair, and overhaul solutions across all types of pumps. THE ROLE

  • Manufacture precision components from engineering drawings using a range of manual lathes
  • Work to fine tolerances (up to 0.02mm) ensuring accuracy and consistency
  • Produce high-quality parts within agreed timeframes to meet production schedules
  • Adhere to all safety and quality procedures, contributing to ongoing process improvements
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with company procedures and British Standards
  • Support internal teams in identifying and resolving technical or production issues
  • Operate within a varied machine shop environment handling a wide range of components
  • Collaborate with a small team to maintain efficiency and high standards across the workshop

THE PERSON

  • Time-served machinist with experience in manual turning
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately
  • Confident working with both metric and imperial measurements
  • Experience working to tight tolerances with strong attention to detail
  • Additional machining skills (milling, boring, grinding, slotting) are advantageous but not essential
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards of work
  • Team player with a flexible and proactive approach
