Westray Recruitment Group are hiring for a Graduate Design Engineer for our client based in Northamptonshire.
Permanent role
Hours of work: Monday to Friday 9am–5:30pm
Holiday entitlement: 23 days per annum (plus usual public holidays). After 3 years’ service, an additional day’s holiday for each year of service up to a maximum of 25 days.

Our client has a long-distinguished history in the construction of landmark structures around the world, particularly iconic bridges and buildings. The organisation’s principal focus now is the design, manufacture and operation of specialist equipment and temporary works for the construction of bridges, buildings, offshore structures, refineries, power stations and industrial plants. They have particular expertise in the erection of long span suspension and cable stayed bridges and in the engineering for specialist modular construction including heavy lifting and skidding operations.
You will be working within a team of engineers and CAD technicians, carrying out conceptual and detailed design of permanent and temporary structures and equipment, particularly related to construction engineering of bridges, tower systems and complex structures.
- Conceptual and detailed design of permanent and temporary structures, particularly in steel
- Conceptual and detailed design of specialist equipment, particularly related to heavy lifting and moving projects
- Production of animations, 3D models, and drawings using Inventor software
- Preparation of detailed calculations using computer program Excel
- Static analyses of structures using structural analysis (FEA) computer programs
- Preparation of sketches and drawings using computer program AutoCAD
- Development of standard spreadsheet solutions suitable for use with Excel
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (civil, structural, mechanical or similar)
- Experience in the use of computer drafting software, preferably AutoCAD
- Experience in the use of finite element analysis computer programs
- Good general IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Email Systems)
- Experience in analysis and design of structures, particularly in steel
- Experience in the use of 3D modelling software preferably Inventor, however full training will be provided
