Westray Recruitment Group are seeking to recruit an Electrical Engineer for our client based in Northamptonshire. The following information aims to provide potential candidates with a better understanding of the requirements for this role.

THE BUSINESS
Our client has a long-distinguished history in the construction of landmark structures around the world, particularly iconic bridges and buildings. The organisation's principal focus now is the design, manufacture and operation of specialist equipment and temporary works for the construction of bridges, buildings, offshore structures, refineries, power stations and industrial plants. They have particular expertise in the erection of long span suspension and cable stayed bridges and in the engineering for specialist modular construction including heavy lifting and skidding operations.
THE ROLE
- Design and develop electrical and control systems for heavy lifting equipment
- Detailed electrical and control system specifications, including hardware and software selection
- Electrical circuit diagrams and schematics
- Install, commission, test, and operate equipment in both workshop and field settings
- Ensure compliance with relevant electrical design and safety standards, European directives, and legislation
- Conduct feasibility studies for new equipment designs
- Provide technical support to customers remotely and onsite
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed
- Develop and maintain technical literature accompanying equipment
- Design and deliver training programs for customers on equipment use, service, and repair
- Perform routine and corrective maintenance on equipment in the workshop
THE PERSON
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
- Minimum 3 years of experience designing and building electrical systems
- Strong understanding of electrical principles, codes, and standards
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience with 400V AC power circuits and 24V DC control circuits is essential
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- Valid passport and willingness to travel internationally at short notice
- Driver’s license
- Preferable: Experience with hydraulic systems
- Ability to programme PLCs
- Construction site experience
- CSCS card
