WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?

THE BUSINESS
We are seeking to recruit a CAD Technician for our client based in Northamptonshire. Our client has a long-distinguished history in the construction of landmark structures around the world, particularly iconic bridges and buildings. The organisation’s principal focus now is the design, manufacture and operation of specialist equipment and temporary works for the construction of bridges, buildings, offshore structures, refineries, power stations and industrial plants. They have particular expertise in the erection of long span suspension and cable stayed bridges and in the engineering for specialist modular construction including heavy lifting and skidding operations. You will be working within a team of engineers and technicians, carrying out conceptual and detailed design of permanent and temporary structures and equipment, particularly related to construction engineering of bridges, tower systems and complex structures.
THE ROLE
- Production of detailed 3D models, and drawings using Inventor and AutoCAD software
- Production of animations using Inventor software
- Assist in the conceptual and detailed design of permanent and temporary structures, particularly in steel
- Assist in the conceptual and detailed design of specialist construction equipment, particularly related to heavy lifting and moving projects
- Maintain and update the company’s library of drawings for standard equipment
THE PERSON
Essential:
- Several years’ experience in a similar role and able to demonstrate a sound practical knowledge in the use of Inventor and AutoCAD software, particularly for steelwork detailing for fabrication and corresponding site works
- Ability to use 3D modelling CAD software Inventor and AutoCAD unsupervised
- Knowledge of steelwork detailing for manufacturing and erection / assembly
- Good general IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, E-mail systems)
- Good presentation and communications skills
Preferable:
- Experience / knowledge in the use of Vault software for the management of CAD data
- Some experience / knowledge for the design of temporary works, particularly related to heavy lifting and moving projects
- Some experience / knowledge in environmental, health and safety management systems
- Some practical skills, mechanical engineering tasks, forklift driving, etc
