Pay Rate: £15.00–£15.50 per hour, depending on experience

Contract: Temporary to Permanent opportunity

Hours: 24 hours week – this can be split over 3 days or 4 days – whichever works best for you

The Business:

Our client is a well-established and successful business operating across the region. As part of their continued growth, they are looking for a reliable and practical Handyman to join their team and support the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of their sites. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy working environment where no two days are the same. You will play an important role in ensuring the buildings, facilities, equipment and surrounding areas are maintained to a high standard.

The Role:

As a Handyman, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of general maintenance, repairs and upkeep across the sites. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and upkeep across the site.
  • Completing basic joinery, decorating and minor electrical maintenance where appropriately qualified.
  • Repairing and maintaining doors, locks, fixtures, fittings, furniture and general building fabric.
  • Carrying out painting, decorating and touch-up work as required.
  • Completing routine checks of buildings, facilities and equipment and reporting any issues.
  • Supporting preventative maintenance and identifying potential problems before they become larger issues.
  • Keeping external areas, walkways and general site areas clean, tidy and well maintained.
  • Responding to maintenance requests and prioritising jobs effectively.
  • Working safely and following all relevant health and safety procedures.
  • Liaising with contractors and other maintenance personnel when required.
  • Maintaining accurate records of completed maintenance work where necessary.
  • Travelling between two local sites as required.
  • Supporting with general site duties and other reasonable tasks as required.

This is a practical, hands-on position that would suit someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work and is confident working independently.

The Person:

We are looking for a dependable, hands-on individual who isn't afraid to get stuck in and take ownership of their work. The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a handyman, maintenance, facilities or similar practical role.
  • A broad range of practical maintenance skills.
  • Experience with general building repairs and upkeep.
  • Painting and decorating experience.
  • Good problem-solving skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A flexible approach and willingness to assist wherever required.
  • A good understanding of workplace health and safety.
  • Experience using a range of hand and power tools.
  • A full, clean driving licence and the ability to drive a manual vehicle.

Experience in basic electrical maintenance and external/ground maintenance would also be advantageous. Above all, we are looking for someone who is reliable, practical and proactive, with a genuine pride in keeping a workplace safe, clean, functional and well presented.
