Westray Recruitment Group is pleased to be representing an established clean energy specialist committed to driving the UK's transition to renewable energy. Working on behalf of housing associations, local authorities, commercial organisations, and private customers, our client delivers high-quality renewable energy installations designed to maximise energy generation and reduce carbon emissions. Due to rapid expansion within their installation division, they are currently recruiting dedicated installation teams across the UK.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, the Solar PV Roofer will take responsibility for all roofing activities associated with the installation of domestic and commercial Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems, working alongside a Solar PV Electrician and Labourer. Responsibilities include:

  • Carry out roofing works and install roof hooks, mounting systems, rails, and Solar PV modules in accordance with design specifications.
  • Assess roof conditions prior to installation, identify defects, and carry out minor roof repairs where required.
  • Ensure all roof penetrations and weatherproofing are completed to the highest standards.
  • Support and direct the Solar PV Labourer during roofing activities while maintaining excellent housekeeping.
  • Ensure all work complies with manufacturer guidance, MCS standards, and company health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, and assigned vehicle in proper condition.
  • Complete electronic job records and represent the business professionally at all times.

THE PERSON

Qualifications & Safety: Full UK Driving Licence, CSCS Card, and Working at Height Training are essential.

Experience: Proven roofing experience working at height with roofing tools and equipment, alongside direct Solar PV installation experience. (Roof tiling/slating, flat roofing, or MCS compliance experience is desirable).

Skills & Knowledge: Excellent roofing skills, ability to read technical drawings, sound knowledge of domestic/commercial roofing systems, working at height regulations, and MCS installation requirements.

Behaviours: Strong safety-first attitude, high pride in workmanship, strong teamwork and communication skills, comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, and willing to travel across the North of England with occasional overnight stays.
