Westray Recruitment Group is pleased to be representing an established clean energy specialist committed to driving the UK's transition to renewable energy. Working on behalf of housing associations, local authorities, commercial organisations, and private customers, our client delivers high-quality renewable energy installations designed to maximise energy generation and reduce carbon emissions. Due to rapid expansion within their installation division, they are currently recruiting dedicated installation teams across the UK.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, the Solar PV Labourer will provide practical support to the Solar PV Roofer and Solar PV Electrician as part of a dedicated 3-person installation team delivering domestic and commercial Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems.

  • Support the installation of domestic and commercial Solar PV systems, assisting both the Roofer and Electrician throughout each project.
  • Load, unload, and organize Solar PV modules, mounting equipment, tools, and materials safely.
  • Assist with site set-up, access arrangements, work-area preparation, cable routes, containment, and equipment positioning.
  • Support the Roofer with the movement and positioning of roof hooks, rails, mounting systems, and basic roofing activities under supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment, ensuring packaging, waste, and surplus materials are removed and customer properties are protected.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
  • Complete electronic job records, photographs, and documentation where required.

THE PERSON

  • Qualifications & Safety: Valid CSCS Labourer Card, Full UK Driving Licence, and Working at Height training are essential. (Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness, PASMA, IPAF, or First Aid are desirable).
  • Experience: Previous experience working in a labouring, roofing, construction, or site-based installation role, with experience working in teams and carrying out physically demanding work outdoors.
  • Skills & Knowledge: Good practical manual skills using basic hand and power tools safely, basic understanding of construction site safety, manual handling techniques, and site housekeeping.
  • Behaviours: Strong safety-first attitude, reliable, punctual, comfortable working at height, and willing to travel across the North of England with occasional overnight stays.
