THE BUSINESS

As a Lead Maintenance Technician (Either Bias) you will hold 1st line supervisory responsibility on shift for 2 x Electrical Maintenance Technicians and 2 x Mechanical Fitters. This is a hands-on role and you too will conduct maintenance tasks.

THE ROLE

  • This is a hands-on maintenance role delivering both planned and reactive responsibilities
  • You will provide support to manufacturing areas to ensure maximum availability of equipment within the two Mills on site
  • Working to maintain equipment such as conveyors, ovens, overhead cranes, welding lines, bevelling machines, handling equipment, facilities maintenance, etc.
  • You will be responsible for conducting all aspects of the job in a safe manner and adhere to statutory and mandatory safety regulations, procedures and policies.
  • You will execute planned maintenance tasks effectively, working through the task schedule in order of priority.
  • Responding to plant breakdowns and machine size changes ensuring plant downtime is minimised
  • As Lead Maintenance Technician (Either bias) you will have responsibility for 2 x Electrical Maintenance Technicians and 2 x Mechanical Fitters
  • Issuing permits to contractors i.e. working at height, hot work procedures, crane access permits, etc.
  • Feeding back any issues on plant to the management team
  • Providing progress reporting and allocating tasks
  • Delivering tool box talks
  • Ensuring the safety of the team
  • Part of the team delivering training, appraisals and soft HR practices

THE PERSON

  • Completed an electrical or mechanical apprenticeship
  • Worked in a multi-skilled environment, ideally within a heavy engineering manufacturing environment
  • A systematic approach to problem solving
  • Knowledge and use of computer-based maintenance systems
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Previous experience issuing permits and delivering risk assessments
  • Able to allocate tasks and progress works
  • Working to aid on-site safety
