Established over 30 years ago in the North East the business supports local businesses with their logistical needs. The company values itself on “Going the extra mile” as their customers are at the heart of their business model. You will be responsible for the daily operations of some key accounts and will liaise directly with both customers and suppliers. This will be a busy role, so good customer services skills and strong organisational skills are a necessity. THE ROLE The role of the Road Freight Operator is to support their European and UK road freight team and be one of the main contacts for their portfolio of customers Export/import planning groupage, part loads and full load consignments from/to the UK/Europe Liaising with customers, overseas partners and suppliers to deliver the highest level of customer care Completing export customs on The Customs Declaration Service (CDS) Extensive client liaison to include quotations, follow up, bookings and problem solving Perform and correctly implement General Administration, e.g. check costs in accordance with departmental requirements, create CMRs, communicate efficiently and effectively with customers and suppliers, as required by operational procedures Process bookings from clients on to our freight management system and communicate with our suppliers to book and track the shipment through its entirety Be able to adapt to an ever-changing environment and complete tasks outside of your standard responsibilities when required Represent the company in a professional manner at all times Support the wider business functions to help work towards the company’s future goals THE PERSON Must have a good understanding of European Road Freight, minimum 1 year experience Knowledge of customs requirements, processes and procedures Experience working in shipping/logistics A high level of accuracy and diligence in daily tasks Good time keeping Have a strong customer-service background Be a confident, organised team player Strong IT knowledge, particularly Microsoft Office platform
