THE BUSINESS
Our client is a market leader within the Chemical Sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure raw materials, consumables, and services in a cost-effective manner
- Identify, evaluate, and audit suppliers to ensure compliance and quality standards
- Negotiate contracts to achieve optimal pricing, lead times, and terms
- Liaise with Commercial and Production teams to align purchasing with operational needs
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock
- Raise and manage purchase orders across all departments
- Track supplier performance and resolve any supply issues
- Maintain purchasing procedures and ensure compliance across the business
Key Duties
- Expedite purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods
- Manage supplier communication and resolve invoice/order queries
- Maintain supplier approval systems and records
- Create and manage items and purchase orders within Navision
- Coordinate label artwork and ordering processes
- Provide cost updates and communicate pricing changes to Sales
Qualifications & Experience
- Educated to A-level standard or equivalent vocational qualification levels with GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths & English
- Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) Level 3 or above (or equivalent)
- Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role
- Understanding of supplier management and contract negotiation
- Experience within manufacturing, chemical, or industrial environments (desirable)
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. Navision or similar)
- Knowledge of inventory control and supply chain processes
Skills & Competencies
- Strong negotiation and commercial awareness
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Good IT skills, including ERP systems and Microsoft Office
- Full driving licence
