The Role:

As a Metal Dresser / Finishing Operative, you will play a key role in ensuring all fabricated and machined components are finished to the highest possible standards prior to dispatch or further processing.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Dressing and finishing metal components to both customer and internal standards
  • Removing sharp edges, burrs, weld spatter, and surface defects
  • Using hand tools, grinders, linishers and polishing equipment
  • Carrying out bright polishing, graining, and satin finishing
  • Preparing components for painting, coating, or assembly
  • Conducting visual and dimensional inspections to ensure quality compliance
  • Working from engineering drawings and job specifications
  • Supporting production flow and meeting deadlines
  • Adhering to all health and safety procedures

The Person:

  • Previous experience in metal dressing, fabrication finishing, or a similar role
  • Experience working with stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminium
  • Competent in the use of hand tools and finishing equipment (e.g. grinders, linishers)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Good work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
