Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, the Leading Hand Plant Mechanic will join our Large Engines Department on a full-time basis at our South Guildford workshop. This role involves leading and motivating a team of up to 10 employees in the disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of large engines, ensuring all work meets the highest standards. You will promote a strong safety culture, support team training, and maintain a positive, can-do attitude while working hands-on in a high-volume environment.
Department Overview: The Engines Department specializes in rebuilding and maintaining engine components to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Our team is dedicated to high-quality service, safety, and efficient workflow.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and motivate a crew of up to 10 employees within the Large Engines department
- Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble engine components with precision and care
- Promote and maintain high safety standards and a positive, can-do team culture
- Assist in training team members and manage high-volume workloads efficiently
Skills & Experience:
- Australian-recognised Trade Certificate
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
- Strong understanding of service reporting and service literature
- Team leadership experience with a strong emphasis on safety
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a busy workshop
- Familiarity with KPI metrics from task receipt to component dispatch
