Reporting to the RTO Manager, the Safety Training Supervisor is responsible for leading a small team of direct specialist training employees and vendors, analysing the safety training needs of the business and implementing training programs that meet all requirements. This includes training delivery and scheduling all safety training for the business, both metro and regional, ensuring all training delivered is of the highest quality and contextualised to WesTrac needs. The Safety Training Supervisor is accountable for managing all external vendors, including cost and performance monitoring, and providing up-to-date reports to the Post-Trade Training Manager. This role also manages the safety function for the L&D team, including auditing processes, monthly safety meetings, and coaching and reporting for the function.

Roster: Mon – Fri 8.5 hours (including lunch break)
What you will do:
- Lead and manage a team of qualified safety trainers, providing direction, coaching, and performance management to ensure high training standards.
- Design, deliver, and continuously improve safety training programs that support all areas of the business, including regional operations.
- Develop safety training materials and expand the WesTrac RTO scope, with a strategic focus on bringing safety-related training in-house.
- Oversee and manage external safety training vendors, ensuring quality delivery, KPI compliance, cost control, and contractual performance.
- Monitor vendor costs and performance, providing quarterly reporting and insights to the Post Trade Manager.
- Implement and maintain the integrated Safety Management System across the WesTrac Institute, including audits, inspections, hazards, training matrices, and safety meetings.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training solutions and make informed recommendations to L&D leadership on improvements, costs, and delivery models.
- Partner with key business stakeholders to align safety training solutions with organisational strategy, enable informed decision-making, and report safety performance and opportunities to senior management and the board.
Skills and Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent) and a tertiary qualification in Health and Safety.
- Current Worksafe Registered Assessor accreditation.
- High Risk Work Licence, with a minimum of LF, WP and DG classes, supported by relevant safety training delivery certifications.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a comparable safety training, scheduling, and delivery role, with strong exposure to safety systems and practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety legislation, compliance requirements, and safe systems of work across operational environments.
- Highly developed attention to detail, with proven ability to collate data, prepare reports, and present clear insights to management.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to consult, negotiate, and build effective working relationships across all organisational levels and locations.
- Proven ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team, managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
