Reporting to the Fluid Analysis Team Lead, the Mechanical Fluid Analyst is responsible for analysing customer fluid sample results and providing expert recommendations that support improved equipment performance, reliability and operational efficiency.

Through proactive analysis and technical insight, this role helps customers maximise component life and extend the lifespan of their assets.

  • Roster – Monday to Friday
  • 8.5 hour day including meal break

What You'll Do

  • Analyse fluid sample results and historical data to identify trends, anomalies and potential equipment concerns, ensuring all required testing has been completed.
  • Review and validate test results, coordinating additional laboratory testing where required in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepare high-quality customer reports using LIMS data, providing clear interpretations, recommendations and highlighting potential areas of concern.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customer enquiries relating to fluid analysis reports, delivering technical advice and support to ensure customers understand results and recommended actions.
  • Collaborate with the Laboratory Supervisor and Quality team to identify opportunities for improving laboratory processes, testing accuracy and reporting outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including active participation in the Caterpillar Production System (CPS) and the submission of at least two improvement ideas annually.

Skills & Experience

Mechanical trade qualification, a mechanical engineering qualification, or demonstrated experience and expertise in a mechanical field would be highly desirable, with relevant industry experience also viewed favourably.

Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience using Caterpillar systems or similar equipment management systems is desirable.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience in laboratory fluid analysis.
  • Experience working with Caterpillar equipment and machinery.
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance programs, condition monitoring and reliability practices.
