Reporting into the Technical Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will join our Engineering Department on a Full-time Permanent basis at our Guildford PDC. This role involves creating certified, safe, and legally compliant engineered solutions for WesTrac, including designing, developing, and capturing certified Dealer Provided Options (DPO) for external customers, as well as the design and assessment of certified workshop equipment and tools.
Roster: Monday – Friday, 8.5 hours/day (including meal break)
What You’ll Do:
- Create approved engineering designs and solutions.
- Analyse Dealer Provided Options (DPO) with stakeholders, suppliers, and CAT systems to meet customer requirements.
- Conduct compliance, safety, and risk assessments, manual calculations, stress analysis, and document designs.
- Produce risk reports, functional safety assessments, quality documents, and manufacturing packs.
- Provide ad-hoc engineering support and maintain records in line with WesTrac quality systems.
Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of regulations, standards, and guidelines, including Health, Safety, and Environment standards.
- Proficiency in manual design calculations, engineering documentation, and technical review for machine modifications.
- Understanding of Australian and International design standards.
- Experience in resolving mechanical issues for mobile equipment.
- Project management skills, delivering business-focused outcomes, and experience working in project-based teams.
- Strong initiative, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Nastran.
- Professional Engineering (PE - Stage 1 Competency) status with Engineers Australia.
- Experience in finite element analysis (FEA) is desirable.
