This role plays a critical part in helping CBW leadership and governance forums clearly understand what matters most from a risk perspective — today and looking ahead. As a Senior Risk Reporting Analyst, you’ll provide forward‐looking, high‐quality risk insights that highlight material risks, emerging issues, and themes, and where management attention is required. By transforming complex risk data into clear, decision‐ready insights, you’ll support stronger risk outcomes across CBW and WNZL.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

In this role, you’ll be responsible for delivering executive‐ and Board‐level risk insights that enable senior leaders to understand key risk themes, trends, and areas of focus. You’ll produce clear, concise, and insight‐led reporting for CBW, WNZL and Group governance forums, ensuring risk information is meaningful, relevant, and actionable. You’ll maintain CBW’s Risk Appetite reporting, including the Risk Appetite Statement and Risk Appetite Dashboard. This involves ensuring metrics, thresholds, commentary, and insights remain accurate, current, and aligned to CBW’s strategy, risk profile, and Board expectations.

A core part of the role is leading thematic and emerging risk analysis. You’ll identify, analyse, and articulate forward‐looking risk themes by drawing connections across risk appetite, incidents, issues, controls, and external drivers, helping leaders anticipate what’s coming rather than simply reviewing what’s already happened.

You’ll bring risk data to life through compelling storytelling, translating complex information into clear narratives that explain drivers, root causes, trends, and implications. Moving beyond retrospective reporting, your work will provide proactive decision support and help shape executive discussions.

You’ll also continuously evolve CBW’s risk reporting suite, designing, and enhancing dashboards, governance packs, and deep‐dive papers. Using modern analytics, visualisation, and automation tools — such as Power BI and Excel — you’ll look for opportunities to improve efficiency, clarity, and insight over time.

Maintaining strong risk data quality will be a key focus, including oversight of registers, incidents, losses, and key risk indicators. You’ll work closely with teams across the business to deliver integrated insights, shared learning, and continuous improvement across the enterprise.

Nā tōu rourou | What you’ll bring

You’ll bring experience in risk reporting, analytics or governance within a financial services or regulated environment, along with a strong ability to communicate risk clearly at senior levels. You’ll be comfortable producing executive‐ready reporting and have well‐developed analytical skills that allow you to identify themes, trends, and emerging risks with confidence.

You’ll have strong data literacy, with practical experience using tools such as Power BI and Excel to create clear, insightful visualisations. Your written and verbal communication skills will enable you to influence senior stakeholders, while your judgement, attention to detail and ability to meet governance deadlines will ensure confidence in the outputs you deliver. A sound understanding of risk appetite frameworks and enterprise risk management is essential.

A tertiary qualification in business, finance, risk, law, data, or a related discipline is preferred, along with experience using enterprise risk systems and registers (such as JUNO or similar). Exposure to technology, digital, data or AI‐related risk topics would also be advantageous.
