A long‑established and reputable accountancy practice based in St Neots is looking to appoint a confident and capable Bookkeeper / Assistant Accountant to join the team.
The firm are seeking an accountancy practice experienced individual who enjoys working within the practice environment to support their client base with bookkeeping and management accounting duties.
About the Role
The successful post holder will support with the bookkeeping needs of a portfolio of SME clients spanning a range of industry sectors. You'll work to maintain accurate financial records and support the wider accounts team with management accounting support and compliance tasks.
Typical duties will include:
- Managing day‑to‑day bookkeeping tasks for a portfolio of clients
- Completing accounts to trial balance
- Preparing and filing quarterly VAT returns with submissions to the HMRC
- Responsibility for accruals, prepayments and management accounts support
- Liaising with clients to request information and resolve queries
- Supporting colleagues across the department to ensure deadlines are adhered to
About You
- 2+ years' experience gained working for a UK based practice environment in the capacity of either Bookkeeper, Accounts Assistant or Assistant Accountant.
- Proficiency in accounting software (XERO/Sage50/Quickbooks).
- Proven experience of communicating with clients
- Organised, methodical and diligent.
