WestonBrook Associates are delighted to be supporting this well-established independent accounting firm based in Stanmore, Northwest London, in their search for an experienced Senior/Client Accountant to join their existing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice professional who enjoys managing client relationships, providing technical expertise, and taking responsibility for a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses, companies, individuals and charities.
The Role
- Working closely with the Directors and wider professional team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and overseeing the delivery of accounting, taxation and advisory services.
- Managing a portfolio of corporate and individual clients as the primary point of contact.
- Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships as well as those for rental property accounts and self-employed accounts.
- Preparing and submitting Corporation, Personal and Capital Gains tax returns.
- Preparing and reviewing VAT Returns, including supporting clients through Making Tax Digital requirements.
- Reviewing work in progress and monitoring chargeable time to ensure portfolio profitability.
- Liaising directly with HMRC and handling tax queries, investigations and routine correspondence.
- Providing general tax advice to clients, including guidance relating to R&D claims, ATED and MTD.
- Supporting with audit assignments as required.
About you
- At least 5+ years' experience working for a small UK based practice in the capacity of Senior or Client Accountant with responsibility for managing a portfolio of clients.
- Experience preparing Medium Size Company Accounts, Charity Accounts, and Consolidated Accounts.
- Audit experience is desirable but not essential.
- Ideally proficient in the use of Sage products such as SAPA as well as Xero and QuickBooks.
- Supervisory experience of reviewing the work of outsourced accounting staff.
- Excellent communication skills as you will be regularly liaising with clients and the HMRC.
Please note: This is a fully office-based position with no hybrid working. Applicants should be within a reasonable commuting distance of Stanmore, ideally with a journey time of no more than 45 minutes.
