We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join a well established team within a growing independent practice in Ipswich.

The Role

This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to organisational growth while developing your professional expertise within a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both accounting and tax responsibilities and have experience working within a client facing capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of statutory accounts / financial statements ensuring they meet applicable accounting frameworks for Ltd companies, partnerships and sole traders.
  • Provide tax support and tax planning advice across VAT, corporation tax and self assessment.
  • Analyse ledger balances by carrying out detailed reconciliations and addressing any inconsistencies.
  • Support with management accounts.
  • Responsible for bookkeeping duties using systems such as Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.
  • Provide support, training, and mentorship to junior finance team members to encourage their development.

About You

  • Proven experience within a practice setting at Semi Senior or Senior level.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero.
  • Good knowledge and experience of management reporting.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to prioritise tasks in a timely manner.
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members is desirable.
  • Ideally AAT and/or ACA/ACCA qualified.
  • Excellent communication skills with previous experience of dealing with clients directly.
