WestonBrook Associates are delighted to be partnering with a prominent accountancy and advisory firm in Central London to recruit a high-profile VAT Director position, reflecting the strategic importance of indirect tax within the firm.
Reporting directly to a Tax Partner, this is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced VAT specialist to take a leading role within a progressive and commercially focused firm. The successful individual will be responsible for driving the continued growth of the VAT service offering, providing high-level technical advice to a diverse client base and working closely with the wider leadership team on strategic tax matters.
This role offers significant autonomy, visibility and the opportunity to influence the future direction of an established and expanding practice.
The Role
As VAT Director, you will serve as the firm's principal VAT specialist, delivering both advisory and compliance expertise whilst supporting clients across a broad range of sectors.
Key responsibilities:
- Leading and developing the firm's VAT advisory and compliance offering.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for complex VAT matters across the practice.
- Advising clients on a wide range of indirect tax issues, including property transactions, land and development projects, and VAT planning opportunities.
- Providing guidance on international VAT matters, cross-border transactions and overseas compliance obligations.
- Supporting corporate transactions, restructurings, acquisitions and disposals from a VAT perspective.
- Reviewing and enhancing VAT compliance procedures, risk management processes and internal controls.
- Working collaboratively with Partners and Directors across the firm to deliver integrated tax solutions.
- Identifying opportunities to provide additional value-added advisory services to existing and prospective clients.
- Delivering technical training and support to colleagues across the wider tax and accounting teams.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships whilst contributing to business development and networking initiatives.
- Mentoring and developing members of the tax team.
Person Requirements
- CTA, ACA or equivalent professional qualification.
- Significant VAT experience gained within a UK-based professional services, accountancy practice or specialist advisory environment.
- Strong technical knowledge across indirect taxes with expertise in VAT advisory work.
- Experience advising owner-managed businesses, SMEs and corporate clients.
- Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
- A commercial and proactive approach with the ability to identify opportunities for business growth.
- Strong leadership, mentoring and people development capabilities.
- The confidence to engage with senior decision-makers and provide clear, practical advice.
