An established and highly regarded independent accountancy practice based in Braintree is looking to recruit an Accounts Semi‑Senior to support the firm’s continued growth. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a varied and interesting portfolio of owner‑managed businesses, charities, and high‑net‑worth individuals spanning a wide range of sectors including property, professional services, retail, construction, and technology. Role
- As part of a collaborative accounts team, you will take responsibility for assisting with, and in some cases managing, a portfolio of clients, delivering a broad range of compliance and accounting services.
- Prepare year‑end statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies (FRS 102 Section 1A).
- Draft corporation tax computations and CT600s for review and submission.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts.
- Complete and submit quarterly VAT returns across multiple schemes.
- Support bookkeeping requirements using cloud‑based accounting software such as XERO, Quickbooks and Sage.
- Liaise directly with clients to resolve queries and support ongoing business needs.
- Build trusted, professional relationships and act as a key point of contact.
About You
- Have 3+ years’ experience working within a UK accountancy practice as either a Semi‑Senior or Trainee Accountant.
- Be AAT Level 4 qualified, or part‑qualified (ACCA/ACA).
- Have experience working with a varied SME client portfolio.
- Be confident communicating directly with clients.
- Be well organized, detail‑oriented, and keen to progress your career within practice.
