Position Overview
The Weston Public Schools is seeking a Kindergarten Instructional Aide for Woodland Elementary School. This is a part-time role, approximately 5.5 hours per day when school is in session, reporting to the Building Principal. We are looking for a diverse pool of applicants who are inspired by our mission to educate, equip, and inspire all students to achieve their full potential and enrich their community.
About The Weston Public Schools
The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) – a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 160 students (K-12).
Key Responsibilities
- Embrace the diversity of the Weston Public Schools by fostering an environment of respect and inclusion
- Complete daily clerical tasks: attendance slips, bussing assignments, after school destination forms, book orders, photocopying and other classroom organizational and clerical duties
- Prepare instructional materials and conduct instructional groups for student use
- Implement the teacher\’s instructional plan as appropriate
- Implement interventions, including all academic, behavioral and special needs interventions and accommodations
- Attend Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) meetings and/or parent conferences when requested
- Provide supervision for kindergarten students in the lunchroom, on the playground, in the bus lines, on field trips and any other appropriate time as requested
- Substitute for the classroom teacher when the teacher is absent for a period of time up to a full day
- Perform other duties as directed by Building Principal and/or her designee
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor\’s degree
- Experience working with students with special needs strongly preferred
- Competent with technology, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Zoom
Compensation
A Kindergarten Instructional Aide currently earns between $21.57 to $23.19 per hour, but we anticipate an increase once the new contract is finalized. Additionally, the Weston Public Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package, including subsidized health insurance and participation in the Massachusetts Teachers\’ Retirement System. Professional growth is ongoing in Weston and supported through multiple opportunities, both internally and externally.
