The Weston Public Schools is seeking to hire an Assistant Bookkeeper to support the Business Office. This is a 12-month position, reporting to the Director of Finance. About The Weston Public Schools: The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 157 students (K-12).
Key Responsibilities:
- Embrace the diversity of the Weston Public Schools by fostering an environment of respect and inclusion while actively working to build an equitable school community.
- Process, record and post purchase orders, invoices, statements and other materials related to accounts payable.
- Prepare weekly schedule of payments for review by the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations and for submission to the Town Accountant.
- Maintain files of Business Office financial and accounting records in compliance with the Secretary of State's record retention schedule.
- Research and prepare financial and accounting data, as requested, for audit and/or other internal and external reviews.
- Communicate in a professional and courteous manner with school and town personnel and vendors as necessary to ensure timely payment of invoices.
- Actively work to resolve accounts payable issues involving vendors, school personnel and/or town personnel.
- Notify the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations of any and all potential or actual issues related to the bookkeeping functions.
- Perform all other assignments, including accounting and clerical tasks, as directed by the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations and/or her designee.

Compensation and Professional Growth:
The annual salary range for this position is $44,542 - $54,917 until June 30, 2025. As of July 1, 2025, the salary range increases to $47,215 - $58,212. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, and the opportunity to participate in the Middlesex County Retirement System. Professional growth is ongoing in Weston, and supported through multiple opportunities, both internally and externally.
