Safe Space Activity Assistant

This unique volunteer role includes building trusting relationships with children and encouraging them to take part in activities. Safe Space Activity Assistants will support children to explore their grief by supporting them to take part in activities themed around memories, feelings, coping strategies and support networks. The role will also include general tasks such as setting up, clearing up, and making refreshments.

Safe Space Activity Assistants will be part of the Emotional Support team supporting the CYP Bereavement Counsellor to help facilitate group activity sessions.

What you will be doing

• Assisting in activities such as games, light sports, arts and crafts
• Arranging refreshments
• Supporting the CYP Bereavement Counsellor as required
• Ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times of all details appertaining to participants, their relatives and staff
• Utilising supervision sessions as a chance to update skills and meet fellow Activity Assistants
