We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Specialty Doctor to join our dedicated, experienced and welcoming multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your experience in palliative medicine while making a meaningful difference to patients and families living with life-limiting illness. The successful candidate will work regular clinical sessions within our Hospice Outreach Team and participate in the non-resident evening and weekend on-call rota. During times of leave there may also be a requirement to support the medical needs of the inpatient unit. Weston Hospicecare provides expert care, guidance and support for people living with life limiting illnesses and those important to them.
Our aim is to help people live as well as possible, through high-quality specialist palliative care delivered by a skilled multidisciplinary team. The post holder will support the Hospice Outreach Team, providing specialist palliative care advice and support to patients, relatives and healthcare professionals, and responding to urgent clinical scenarios and crises in the community. They will work closely with the hospice community clinical nurse specialists with support from the medical consultants and collaborating with the wider multidisciplinary team. We also host GP registrars in training posts and it is anticipated that the post holder will contribute to their development via support and supervision when needed. We welcome applications from doctors who demonstrate a strong interest in palliative medicine and a commitment to delivering compassionate, person-centred care.
Previous experience in palliative care is desirable but not essential. The post is suitable for doctors wishing to gain experience in palliative medicine alongside another clinical role, in particular (but not limited to) GPs or senior GP trainees seeking to develop or continue a specialist interest. In addition to clinical care, provision will be made for supporting professional activities to enable participation in teaching, audit, research, service development and continued professional development.
Full registration with the GMC is essential and applicants are subject to an Enhanced DBS certificate.
