A little bit about the role... Are you looking to kickstart or advance your career in energy consultancy? Sustainability Energy Services (SES) is seeking a motivated and analytical Assistant Energy & Sustainability Consultant to join our growing team. In this role, you will work alongside experienced consultants, gaining hands‑on exposure across residential energy compliance, thermal modeling, and sustainability strategies, while benefiting from structured training to support your career progression.

Responsibilities

  • Energy & Compliance Modeling: Conduct SAP assessments, Home Energy Model (HEM) evaluations, and generate Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs).
  • Thermal & Overheating Analysis: Perform Part O simplified overheating assessments for residential properties and assist with TM59 dynamic thermal simulation modeling under CIBSE guidelines.
  • Sustainability Strategy: Assist with drafting comprehensive Energy Statements for development projects.
  • Consultancy & Fieldwork Support: Shadow senior consultants to build expertise in dynamic modeling, thermal imaging surveys, and SBEM assessments for commercial buildings.
  • Business Development & Team Support: Collaborate with consultants and the administrative team to assist with marketing initiatives and broader work across the Weston Group.

Qualifications

  • Qualified On-Construction Domestic Energy Assessor (OCDEA); GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • Technical Experience: Proven track record conducting SAP assessments for new builds and refurbishments, alongside the ability to carry out U-value calculations. Experience with non-domestic SBEM modeling (Level 3 and 4). Familiarity with RdSAP methodology for existing dwelling assessments. Knowledge of bespoke thermal bridging calculations and condensation risk assessments.
  • Planning & Compliance: Strong understanding of local planning policies, energy statements, and Building Regulations (specifically Part L and Part O).
