We are looking for a Group Accountant who will be responsible for supporting the Director of Finance in discharging their corporate responsibility for financial governance, financial sustainability, systems assurance and regulatory compliance across the Weston College Group, including all subsidiaries.

The postholder will lead the financial accounting function, ensuring that financial systems, controls, financial reporting and data effectively support strategic planning and decision making, and that Weston College Group meets all statutory, funding and audit requirements. This is a full-time position (37 hours per week).

Interviews for this role will take place on 20th July 2026.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Director of Finance: Act as the principal professional adviser to the Director of Finance on all matters relating to finance, financial systems, treasury and compliance for Weston College Group, including all subsidiaries.
  • Financial Management, Control and Reporting: Working with Weston College Group finance operations team, including ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all financial transactions and cash activities.
  • Financial Systems and Information: Lead the review, development and continuous improvement of finances systems, ensuring they are secure, integrated and fit for purpose.
  • Audit, Risk and Assurance: Support the Director of Finance in meeting obligations for audit, risk management and compliance, including internal and external audit.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Ensure the finance function operates as an effective business partner to the Director of Finance, Executive Team and budget holders.

You will have:

  • Experience of working in a complex finance environment.
  • The ability to work independently on complex tasks.
  • Able to multi-task and be extremely organised.
  • Excellent IT skills using MS Office package, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent communication and line management skills.
  • Enthusiasm and a positive attitude to improving the quality of service.
  • An approachable, friendly and can-do manner.
  • The ability to work within tight time constraints and maintain high level of accuracy.
